    China Slows Business Lending -- What It Means

    When the China's central bank issued a one-paragraph statement on February 12 that it would raise the RMB reserve requirement ratio for depository financial institutions by 0.5 percent, it was a clear attempt to put the brakes on China's roaring economy. The more money Chinese banks are required to set aside with the central bank means less money that can be loaned to businesses and consumers.
